There's an unwritten law that only some of us know and others come to find out...

As Raider fans we all know that unless its the 49ers all other games are just preseason....

While I was in Las Vegas laid over for about two hours, I walked through trying to find a shop to get something to eat, After I ran into the man who was a Raider fan, I was at the ice cream shop and standing next to me was Matt Leinart. As I turned he noticed my Raiders hat and smiled. I laughed of course...

Now I'm standing there thinking to myself... Should I really try and start a conversation with him? YOU KNOW I DID!

So I said... I notice you smiled... You're a Raiders fan right??  He laughed again... Then rubbed his hand across his chest, trying to point out that his t-shirt said Property of Arizona Cardinals... I have to say I was tempted to ask him "Shouldnt that say Kristen not Arizona??" (Laguna Beach watchers Know what I'm referring to)

So, before I leave I walked away I looked back and said.. See you...

The Oakland Raiders pre-season hasn’t been exactly a winning one or has it.  Sure we lost two preseason games but it is sure nice to see JaMarcus Russell get in his groove. Russell completed his first four passes for 37.

"Once we connected with the first couple of passes," Russell said, "it was sort of like I could see us doing it all game. Everything was on rhythm at the time."

Yet the rhythm was short lived. The second set of four plays yielded an 8-yard sack, a 10-yard completion and two Russell misfires, the second of which came on a fourth-and-eight play.
I know his physical talent will not carry him through the season.  He needs to learn the game, get in the timing and be a decision maker. Well we won’t see much more of the starters until the official season begins. Coach Lane Kiffin doesn’t plan on using the starters in the next preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Now I am not going to rant and rave about the talent we have on our team, last season I was over optimistic.  However I will say, I like what I have...

To some 63 is just a number... but to the Raider Nation this has significant meaning...

The number worn by the MAN That the Raider Nation Knows as "Highway 63" Gene Upshaw....

As Most of us know and have come to realize, Gene Upshaw passed away last night 8/20/08 in his home in Lake Tahoe, California.
He was recently as late as Sunday, diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.

Now in a lot of the articles you may read today, they will of course show his attributes and accomplishments but already I have noticed they are quick to bring up his short comings... My thoughts on that,... WE ALL HAVE SHORT COMINGS ... and there is absolutely no reason to sit and focus on it.

Gene did so many great things within the NFL as a player and as a leader... Lets all come together and remember the things that we as the Raider Nation are most proud of.... The Memories... Forget about the Super Bowls forget about the 7 Pro bowl appearances ... Yes we love him for making that a part of our history but I'm talking about for those who were...

 As I take my trip out East I am so filled with anticipation to see My family and spend some days in that Florida sun that it's seeping through my pores.

As Im laid over in Phoenix, Im sitting in the terminal and as Im there I see an abundance of people with Raider Gear on... THAT'S RIGHT Reppin it and Reppin it well....

I arrive in Ft. Lauderdale about 4:30 EST with the humidity not all that bad but a storm was clearly looming overhead... As we're driving south on 95 BELIEVE IT A RAIDERS BILLBOARD!

On to South Beach and yes believe it! Raiders Raiders Raiders! A man walking down the sidewalk in an Away Authentic Tim Brown jersey in the hot Miami sun!
Reppin Proudly! A man in the Airport wearing a Vikings hat because he's from Minnesota tells me... He loves my hat and I'm his superwoman... I asked if he was part of the Raider Nation and he says... I have to support my home town team, as he pulls out his wallet and then says... But my heart will always be with the Raiders and...

WHY IS THERE SO MUCH COMPETITION IN THIS WORLD? WHY IS THERE COMPETITION WITHIN THE RAIDER NATION?

IT JUST ALWAYS SEEMS THAT EVERYONE HAS TO TRY TO OUT-DO, TOP, BE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE... INCLUDING THEIR CLOSE FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

WHILE MY WIFE AND I WERE AT A DINNER RECENTLY WHERE ONE PERSON AT THE TABLE WAS SPEAKING ABOUT A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND LIERALLY THE SECOND THAT PERSON STOPPED SPEAKING
ANOTHER PERSON AT THE TABLE STARTED SPEAKING ABOUT AN EXPERIENCE THAT THEY FELT WAS BETTER THAN THE OTHER PERSONS. WHY? WHY THE COMEPTITION ON THAT? WHY NOT TRY TO COMPREHEND WHAT THAT PERSON WENT THROUGH.

MY SISTER-IN-LAW WAS TELLING ME ABOUT A GUY AT HER WORK THAT IS ALSO A RAIDER FAN. I THOUGHT IT WAS AWESOME THAT SHE HAD RAIDER FANS AT WORK. I ASKED HER TO TELL HIM ABOUT MY WEBSITE AND SOME OF THE EVENTS THAT I GET INVOLVED WITH BECAUSE THEY BENEFIT GREAT CAUSES IN THIS CRAZY WORLD OF OURS. IMMEDIATELY HIS RESPONSE WAS NEGATIVE TOWARDS ME AND TRIED TO COME BACK WITH AN "OH YEAH, WELL I...". WHY?

Well Well Well....

Here we are Raider Nation FINALLY ONLY A MONTH AWAY!
The offseason is almost over.. The drama, the talks, etc.
Its almost in our past and we can get ready to focus on our future!

A lot of us are thinking Playoffs!! And very well we should! But even more we should be thinking SUPER BOWL... Yes to some that sounds outlandish ...But we should never be thinking playoffs... WE SHOOT FOR THE STARS!! OUR GOAL IS ALWAYS SUPER BOWL! Playoffs is selling us short... Yes we should be realistic but... if you don't have that big prize as your focus then potentially we've already lost.

Keep the Faith and the Goal in sight always!

Now as we approach the preseason... Season ticket holders have paid their tickets off, single game tickets are selling...
and all of a sudden.....

THE CITY OF OAKLAND HAVE ENFORCED SOME NEW RULES FOR THE PARKING LOT AT THE COLISEUM.

No DJ'S No bands .... along with some other rules that we are not happy about...

With the apparent competition between The Raider Nation and other team mascots going on through CBS. COM.. and this being a Raiders site for fans this only seems appropriate.

Let me give those who are trying to vote against us the reasons why we are the winners of that or any competition when it comes to the fans....

Lets start with Last weekend, the weekend of June 6th to June 8th.

City Walk put on an autograph signing event with players such as Kirk Morrison, Gibril Wilson, and Thomas Howard at the Raider Image. Fans from all over showed up for this... With the Raiders being a Northern California team you would think the south wouldn't be as receptive.... WELL any other fan of any other team would think that.

But We as the Raider Nation know that we are world wide. Even though the Raiders left Los Angeles that did not mean the fans whithered away.
Now we here in Northern Cali know how the autograph signings are, pretty mellow and low key all of us show up we take the time to get our pictures chit chat a little and hang...

Once Again here we are... Another week anticipating the upcoming season With a lot of news which Im going to get to first...

The Oakland Raiders have once again completely wiped my world clean... With the parting of ways with one of my favorite players and people Stuart Schweigert. He then not long after was quoted as saying

 "In all my years in football, I've never been around a more negative atmosphere. Nobody had my back, even when in the years before I had their backs 100 percent."

I know some people are going to look down and talk about this and him but you know what.... GROW UP AND LISTEN TO REALITY.

Some may see this as a bitter remark because he was let go.. But guess what... HE SPEAKS THE TRUTH... This was not said  because he was cut, this is something he felt all season long.
And lets be honest Raider Nation... Jarrod Cooper even stated, that what's happened to "his game" wasn't his fault... A TEAMMATE said it. Which goes back to my point... Stu was criticized for helping out his teammates and trying to cover the yardage that other...

All of professional sports has become a business. It's hard to actually have a current favorite player, because in a matter of days, hours or seconds.... they've been traded, released, waived, all of the above......

Today was no exception for me.

My favorite Raider, Stuart Schweigert, was released by the Raiders.

And yeah, I'm pissed, fumed, enraged, all of the above right now.


For me, there is no easy way of just "letting it go", "I didnt even know the guy",
"you'll find another favorite player"......actually:

1.)  I'm not letting it go - I'm still gonna rep Stu no matter who picks him up...
and once I do, I'm gonna get his new jersey and if/and/or when he plays
in Oakland again, I'm goin and gonna rep that jersey to the fullest!
Wether in Silver and Black or whatever team he's playing on....

2.) I DID know the guy - Stu is probably tha best professional athlete that I've ever
encountered. He actually cares about his fans and who represents him & his family.

He won't charge for autographs, is gracious with taking pictures
and will sit back and pop open a cold...

With a new season comes new hope, especially with the off-season moves that the Raiders have made.
On paper the team looks like it has improved 100% and 90% of the issues have been addressed. Only time
will tell if our #1 Draft Pick Darren McFadden will prove the nay sayers wrong. But my beliefs are that he will.

The team seems to be shaping up and everything that you hear coming out of the Raiders OTA's, Mini Camps, and the Raiders Organization sound exciting. With Darren McFadden's and Jamarcus Russell's Q&A sessions on the Raiders website, Interviews with Raiders Players and Coaches... With the potential and competition at Running Back, and the speed of the Secondary things are definately looking up.

 Good Morning Raider Nation!

Alot of things are happening and it's been GREAT!

The way the Raider Nation comes together is fantastic. And this week for my blog I wanted to make sure and address a very serious issue. Along with some news.

For those of you who have been hiding in a bear hole .... The 31st of May The RaiderCast is helping put on a fund raiser for the Biletnikoff Foundation.

And Im sure everyone has seen the flyers by now... But if anyone is wondering what the Biletnikoff Foundation is all about let me help give some insight.

Fred and Angela were devastated when their daughter, Tracey, was brutally murdered by someone she dated. To ensure that Tracey's spirit and dreams live on and are not forgotten, they established the Tracey Biletnikoff Foundation (now the Biletnikoff Foundation), a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of young women recovering from substance abuse, and education for the prevention of domestic violence.

To address the issues of dual diagnosis and substance
abuse, the Biletnikoff Foundation supports Tracey's Place of
Hope. Tracey's Place of Hope is a residential treatment

HELLO RAIDER NATION!!!!

Hope all is well with everyone this lovely day!

This week we're going to take a different approach on things.

Anyone who listens to the Raider Cast will always hear Dave close the show off, with a shout out to our troops...
We hear people say it all of the time on television, the radio etc. What Kind of an impact does that have??

Let me explain a little bit about myself....
I am completely against war! I know its going to happen but I myself want nothing to do with it. I most likely would have been an activist hippie back in the 60's. I do not believe that we are doing anymore good in Iraq than we are bad at this point. We did what we went to do and now its time to bring our troops home and just try to get the innocent families some stability.

Now while I may not support the war, I will ALWAYS support our troops... I dont mean the troops that were torturing Iraqi's. I mean the ones that are...
